Description: GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is suitable for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It can be used as a simple paint program, a expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, a image format converter, etc. GIMP is extremely expandedable and extensible. It is designed to be augmented with plugins and extensions to do just about anything. The advanced scripting interface allows everything from the simplest task to the most complex image manipulation procedures to be easily scripted. NOTES: Because of patent issues with the LZW compression algorithm the installer does not install the ability to save GIF files. (Yes, I know that the Unisys patent has expired in the US. Not so in other countries, though.) To be able to do this, make sure that either you are in a country where Unisys doesn't have a patent on the LZW algorithm, or that you have a license from Unisys. Then download the file ( (from a server in Finland). Unzip and put the gif.exe in your GIMP plug-ins folder.
